Open Day

Once a year for students in their final years of high school

Saturday March 14th, 2026 in the Caserma Neve Campus (Via Scalabrini 76) an Open Day for secondary school students will be held.

The event will present the Bachelor of science (equivalent to Laurea) programmes offered at the Campus: Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Design and the new Industrial Engineering programme, which will begin in September 2026.

Programme:

  • 08.30 Registration and welcome kit collection

Engineering

  • 09.00 – 09.45: presentation of the Laurea programme in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10.00 - 10.45: presentation of the Laurea programme in Industrial Engineering
  • 11.00 – 13.00: learning from nature: experimentation and data analysis workshop to support the design of a model helicopter. The aim of this workshop is to define design guidelines, inspired by nature, that can improve the flight performance of a model helicopter. Participants will be asked to build several versions of the helicopter and carry out the relevant flight experiments. The data collected will be analysed using statistical techniques and the main recommendations for improving the design will be defined

Architectural Design

  • 09.00 – 10.00: presentation of the Laurea programme in Architectural Design
  • 10.15 – 13.00: archi talk and workshop Da cosa nasce cosa (limited to 50 participants, who will be assigned places in order of registration):
    • archi talk: through the projection of images, we will open a debate to dispel the myth of the “genius and unruly” architect. We will understand that design is within everyone's reach. We will see how to move from idea to object (building, city, green space, etc.), approaching it with a few simple rules. Finally, we will learn that design is not only a technical-artistic expression, but also a powerful tool for modelling, measuring and experimenting with our ideas;
    • workshop Da cosa nasce cosa: the second part of the morning will begin with the screening of a short film. We will see with our own eyes the unexpected possibilities of the creative process. Afterwards, each participant will receive a ‘starter kit’ and will be guided through the experience of trying to transform basic materials into an object of desire. The goal will not be the pursuit of quality, but the fact of having designed something unique and given it shape with the material.

For organisational reasons, we kindly ask you to confirm your attendance by filling out the form BY Tuesday, 10 March at 6 p.m.
