Co-funded under the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND action

Co-funded under the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND action and coordinated by the University of Bologna in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano – Piacenza Campus and the other Universities of the Emilia-Romagna Region (Italy), the FutureData4EU project provides 53 PhD positions for doctoral programs in seven thematic areas related to Big Data:

  • Health;
  • Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society;
  • Civil Security for Society;
  • Digital, Industry and Space;
  • Climate, Energy and Mobility;
  • Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment;
  • Enabling Technologies.

The project will run for five years and will recruit 53 candidates through an international call for applications, of which 3 will be assigned to Politecnico di Milano – Piacenza Campus [with Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DASTU), Department of Energy (DENG) and Department of Mechanical Engineering (DMEC)] and the others to University of Bologna, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, University of Parma, University of Ferrara and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Piacenza Campus.

The position sponsored at Politecnico di Milano – Piacenza Campus are associated with the following research topics:

  • Artificial Intelligence to support manufacturing through production efficiency, quality and strategies of maintenance (PhD Programme in Mechanical Engineering, thematic area “Digital, Industry and Space”);
  • Electric vehicles: Infrastructure system and charging strategies based on Renewable Energy Sources (PhD Programme in Electrical Engineering, thematic area “Climate, Energy and Mobility”);
  • The role of digital data in interpreting complex urban phenomena and supporting mobility-related policies (PhD Programme in Urban Planning, Design, and Policy, thematic area “Climate, Energy and Mobility”).

Selected candidates will be enrolled in the doctoral courses of each University and will be contracted with a research fellowship (“assegno di ricerca”). Further information is available on the project website https://site.unibo.it/futuredata4eu/en
