All information on curricular internships

In order to start the compulsory traineeship, it must be included in the study plan and can be carried out in the second year (only in the second semester) or in the third year. The traineeship lasts 100 hours (4 ETCS credits, 25 hours for each ETCS credit) and can be done either full-time (about three weeks) or part-time (2/3 months).

For the compulsory traineeship the student can complete:

  • an external traineeship in Italy or abroad; the traineeship can be carried out at Public Bodies, Companies, Studios (architectural, urban planning, landscape, engineering, etc.). In case of traineeship in Europe, students can participate in the annual Erasmus+ for Traineeship competition;
  • an internal practical activity (internal traineeship): an activity promoted by a permanent professor, which aims to involve the student exclusively in a research activity to be carried out at a Department of the Politecnico di Milano. The list of available professors and programmes can be consulted on the website of the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering, at the following page: www.auic.polimi.it/en/students/students-university-career/internships;
  • a workshop or a professional education course, which are listed on www.auic.polimi.it/en/teaching/lessons-and-exams/workshops

Students are required to read all the regulations, procedures and documents published on the website of the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering at www.auic.polimi.it/en/students/students-university-career/internships

In addition to the compulsory traineeship, students can activate one or more optional traineeships of a maximum duration of one year at each host institution; this traineeship does not contribute to the acquisition of credits, and must in any case be completed prior to the thesis discussion. In the case of the optional traineeship, the University facility of reference is the Career Service, rather than the Campus Traineeship Service.
