Inhabiting highland villages. Exhibition and presentation of projects
The Urban Planning Laboratory (Prof. Marco Mareggi and Prof. Giovanni Lanza) of the first year of the Laurea (equivalent to B.Sc.) in Architectural Design tackled the theme of open space in contemporary urban design, with particular attention to the processes of territorial regeneration and reactivation in mountain contexts.
Students developed projects that offer new keys to interpreting and interpreting inhabited space in high-altitude towns, taking as a case study the territory of Ottone, an area characterised by environmental and climatic quality, but marked by significant criticalities such as marked seasonality, demographic contraction, and underuse of the architectural heritage and rural landscape.
The presentation of the results of the workshop will be held on Monday June 9th, 2025 at the Centro Polivalente del Comune di Ottone starting at 9.30 a.m. and will be an opportunity to illustrate the results of the class' work and share them with the local administration, in a moment of collective confrontation on the design potentialities able to generate new urban quality, promote new uses and practices and enhance a fragile but rich in opportunities context.
