The Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programme in Landscape Architecture – Land Landscape Heritage (LLH) è erogato dalla School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering, It belongs to LM-3 – Landscape architecture degree class, lasts two years and an application is required.
With the Academic Year 2025/2026, the Laurea Magistrale programme will be held at the Piacenza Campus with a renewed study structure. The programme trains experts in landscape design.
Laboratories and integrated courses provide students training in which professors of technical subjects, hydrology, geology, applied botany, ecology, arboriculture and environmental engineering work with experienced designers specialising in green areas, landscape, land and public spaces, and architectural artefacts. The Italian landscape, with its richness, diversity, and vulnerability, is a laboratory and a field of action for theoretical and design teaching activities, guided by three core principles: soil, landscape, and heritage.
Landscape architecture graduates can pursue careers in different fields, including designing public and private parks, gardens, and outdoor spaces across urban, peri-urban, and rural settings. Conservation, management, restoration, and functional reorganisation of historical parks, gardens, existing open spaces, environmental and cultural heritage sites, and archaeological areas (excluding built structures). Landscape planning and design for large-scale regional systems. Redevelopment of degraded or abandoned landscapes. Landscape design for infrastructure and energy projects, incorporating ecological infrastructure, environmental systems, and scenic routes. Conducting landscape analysis, assessment, and environmental impact studies.
The Laurea Magistrale programme is in English and targets students from Laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Agricultural, Forestry and Environmental Sciences. Other three-year degree programmes focused on the humanities, geography and landscape sciences, art, and cultural heritage may be considered for admission, with additional educational requirements. International EU and non-EU students have access based on foreign degrees in Landscape Architecture Bachelor or other degrees assessed during admission.
Graduates in Landscape Architecture – Land Landscape Heritage (LLH) can undertake the necessary qualification procedures (state examination and qualifying internships) to enrol with the professional register of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects, and Conservation Specialists, under Section A, "Landscape" sector. In Italy, AIAPP represents professionals, professors, researchers and students active in landscape architecture and is a member of IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects) and IFLA Europe (International Federation of Landscape Architecture Europe).
